When Kids Get It, It Changes Everything.

The Gospel Project take kids on a Christ-centered, chronological journey through Scripture. Kids will discover how the gospel unfolds from Genesis through Revelation. When kids truly experience the gospel, their hearts are transformed. It is the gospel, not good behavior, that changes everything.

When You Get It, It Changes Everything.

Moral stories become a master plan. A church becomes a culture of grace. Good deeds become a holy mission. This is the work of the gospel. This is The Gospel Project, an ongoing group Bible study resource that helps participants encounter the gospel of Jesus Christ on every page of Scripture. This chronological, Christ-centered Bible study will help you turn the gospel story into a gospel culture and motivate participants to mission at home and around the world.

God Provides a Way

Without the work of the gospel, the divide between the created and our Creator would be insurmountable. But there’s good news. God had a plan for His people.  We believe that God’s gospel project began “In the beginning” and continues today in the hearts and lives of His people. It is our greatest hope and the means by which we are free to love, serve, and follow Jesus Christ. The Gospel Project points people of all ages to the good news of the gospel and equip them to live gospel-filled lives individually, in community, and on mission.

Welcome to North Oak

Welcome to North Oak

"NOCC’s greatest blessing to our family has been the Bible-based teaching we get from the pulpit each week. This along with the wonderful mix of generations in the congregation are what attracted us to NOCC. We are blessed to have a congregation where the older generations take an active interest and role in relating to and mentoring the younger generations. I believe this is how a local church functions best."

— Craig & Cari Smith

North Oak wants to make a lasting difference in your life, in our community, and in the world.

Our mission is to lead people to grow in Christ, live connected, and take Jesus to others. That’s how we’re able to make a difference, and it’s the driving force behind everything we do.

A church isn’t a building—it’s the people. Our church campus is in Hays, Kansas, and people from Ellis county and beyond are a part of our church family. We think you’ll find friendly people who are excited to get to know you!

Jesus’ Message

Jesus’ message is that you matter and you have a purpose. Our goal is to help you connect with Him. It could start with serving, finding God’s vision for your life, or joining us regularly.

Life is not meant to be lived alone. With a strong community of friends, you can laugh, grow, and serve with people who genuinely care about you. Find a small group to join you on your journey.

We have designed our church and ministries to help families raise kids who know and love Jesus, and we are here to partner with you. We believe teenagers are the next generation of leaders that will shape and change our world.

This is way bigger than us

Jesus is our example in serving and caring for others, and He is at work around the world. We exist to demonstrate God’s love, whether in person or online, individually or in groups, within our church and around the world, we support and engage in relationships that provide relief and restoration to a hurting world.

Meet Our Team

Pastor Ken Ediger

Pastor Ken and Rachel Ediger have been at NOCC since 1988. The emphasis of his pulpit ministry is the careful study of the Bible, explaining passages verse by verse with an emphasis on applying the truth to daily life. Under Pastor Ken’s leadership, North Oak Community Church has experienced steady growth, expanded facilities, and multiplied its spiritual impact on the region and the world. He is a graduate of Grace University in Omaha, NE (BRE), Kansas State University (MS), and Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM).

Pastor Ken and Rachel were married in 1974 and have two grown daughters: Sara (Joshua) Froese and Nicole (Jonathan) Iman. They enjoy spending time with grandson Jacob, and granddaughters Bethany, Lily, Emma and Valerie.

“I am called to help people understand and relate God’s word (The Bible) to life. I believe that NOCC is a friendly church family that welcomes people from a variety of backgrounds, taking people where they are and helping them move forward in Christ. We really are about Growing in Christ, Living Connected, and Taking Him to Others. My wife, Rachel, and I are blessed to serve the North Oak family and our community. We are both committed to actively using our God-given gifts, skills, and abilities in serving Christ through his Church.” – Pastor Ken

Associate Pastor Dave Buller

Pastor Dave and Emily are new to North Oak. Dave brings a passion for making disciples and reaching the lost, and has been in ministry for the last 15 years. He graduated from Tabor College with a degree in Biblical & Religious Studies and from Fresno Pacific University Biblical Seminary with an M.Div. They have four kids and Emily is a stay-at-home mom.

“Jesus said it. Now let’s do it. There is a lot of brokenness in this world and in our lives. Jesus has come to free us from that. Join us in this mission to bring hope and healing in Jesus’ name.”

Youth Pastor Jeff Neher

Jeff Neher and his wife, Jesica, have six children, Kaleb, Karli, Ella, Esther, Mya and Joshua. Jeff has been the youth pastor at North Oak since 2000. They live in the small town of Pfeifer about 20 miles from Hays. They love the outdoors and raising a few animals on their small farm. Jeff’s passion is seeing young people get connected with Jesus Christ.

“Being a teenager is a tough time in life and I want every young person to know that Jesus loves them and cares about them in the midst of all the junk of this life. We do our best to offer a variety of ways for students to get involved in God’s Kingdom.”

Jesica is a stay-at-home mom and is homeschooling the children. Her passion is raising great kids and cooking and baking.

The Nehers love being a part of the North Oak family.
