2018 Get SHARP Devotional Journal

In November of 2014, Emily and I were invited to a prayer training conference in Fresno, California. Little did we know how it would change our lives and inspire us for ministry.

One tool we were introduced to was a prayer journal that we used for a couple of years put together by Fred & Esther Leonard. Through this, the Lord has laid on our hearts the importance of helping others hear from God, and to this end, we have put together our own devotional journal. The purpose of Get SHARP is to help you encounter Jesus in a life-changing way through the power of the Holy Spirit. All proceeds from the sale of this book go to further the ministry of our home church: North Oak Community Church.

We encourage you to commit to using this GET SHARP journal during your personal devotional time. You will get the most out of it when you use it consistently. Ideally, once a week you will carve out time to meet with one or two other people and do the GET SHARP Journal together for that day. This is a great tool for making disciples—the very mission on which Jesus has sent each of us.

We invite you to commit to this with us. Share it with one or two friends. Watch as fire descends to ignite your faith.

Believing God for great things,

Dave & Emily Buller

Available at the Faith@Home Center

If you miss a day, don’t be discouraged,
just begin again the following day with the new readings.

You don’t have to make up missed readings.

God has something to say to you. Are you ready to listen?

Praying for the Harvest

Join Pastor Dave for a time of prayer Sunday mornings at 7:30am in Room #119. We are praying that the Lord would bring a harvest of revival, salvations, healing, and spiritual growth.

Welcome to North Oak

Welcome to North Oak

"NOCC’s greatest blessing to our family has been the Bible-based teaching we get from the pulpit each week. This along with the wonderful mix of generations in the congregation are what attracted us to NOCC. We are blessed to have a congregation where the older generations take an active interest and role in relating to and mentoring the younger generations. I believe this is how a local church functions best."

— Craig & Cari Smith

North Oak wants to make a lasting difference in your life, in our community, and in the world.

Our mission is to lead people to grow in Christ, live connected, and take Jesus to others. That’s how we’re able to make a difference, and it’s the driving force behind everything we do.

A church isn’t a building—it’s the people. Our church campus is in Hays, Kansas, and people from Ellis county and beyond are a part of our church family. We think you’ll find friendly people who are excited to get to know you!

Jesus’ Message

Jesus’ message is that you matter and you have a purpose. Our goal is to help you connect with Him. It could start with serving, finding God’s vision for your life, or joining us regularly.

Life is not meant to be lived alone. With a strong community of friends, you can laugh, grow, and serve with people who genuinely care about you. Find a small group to join you on your journey.

We have designed our church and ministries to help families raise kids who know and love Jesus, and we are here to partner with you. We believe teenagers are the next generation of leaders that will shape and change our world.

This is way bigger than us

Jesus is our example in serving and caring for others, and He is at work around the world. We exist to demonstrate God’s love, whether in person or online, individually or in groups, within our church and around the world, we support and engage in relationships that provide relief and restoration to a hurting world.

Meet Our Team

Pastor Ken Ediger

Pastor Ken and Rachel Ediger have been at NOCC since 1988. The emphasis of his pulpit ministry is the careful study of the Bible, explaining passages verse by verse with an emphasis on applying the truth to daily life. Under Pastor Ken’s leadership, North Oak Community Church has experienced steady growth, expanded facilities, and multiplied its spiritual impact on the region and the world. He is a graduate of Grace University in Omaha, NE (BRE), Kansas State University (MS), and Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM).

Pastor Ken and Rachel were married in 1974 and have two grown daughters: Sara (Joshua) Froese and Nicole (Jonathan) Iman. They enjoy spending time with grandson Jacob, and granddaughters Bethany, Lily, Emma and Valerie.

“I am called to help people understand and relate God’s word (The Bible) to life. I believe that NOCC is a friendly church family that welcomes people from a variety of backgrounds, taking people where they are and helping them move forward in Christ. We really are about Growing in Christ, Living Connected, and Taking Him to Others. My wife, Rachel, and I are blessed to serve the North Oak family and our community. We are both committed to actively using our God-given gifts, skills, and abilities in serving Christ through his Church.” – Pastor Ken

Associate Pastor Dave Buller

He graduated from Tabor College with a degree in Biblical & Religious Studies and from Fresno Pacific University Biblical Seminary with an M.Div. They have four kids and Emily is a stay-at-home mom.

“Jesus said it. Now let’s do it. There is a lot of brokenness in this world and in our lives. Jesus has come to free us from that. Join us in this mission to bring hope and healing in Jesus’ name.”

Youth Pastor Jeff Neher

Jeff Neher and his wife, Jesica, have six children, Kaleb, Karli, Ella, Esther, Mya and Joshua. Jeff has been the youth pastor at North Oak since 2000. They live in the small town of Pfeifer about 20 miles from Hays. They love the outdoors and raising a few animals on their small farm. Jeff’s passion is seeing young people get connected with Jesus Christ.

“Being a teenager is a tough time in life and I want every young person to know that Jesus loves them and cares about them in the midst of all the junk of this life. We do our best to offer a variety of ways for students to get involved in God’s Kingdom.”

Jesica is a stay-at-home mom and is homeschooling the children. Her passion is raising great kids and cooking and baking.
